The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has constituted a seven-member National Reconciliation Committee to engage aggrieved aspirants and resolve disputes arising from the party’s recently concluded primaries.

The committee, which will be chaired by political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, has Engr. Buba Galadima as co-chairman.

This was disclosed in a statement jointly signed by the National Chairman of the party, Cleopas Moses, and the National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the committee is expected to meet with aspirants across the country with a view to addressing outstanding grievances and strengthening party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Other members of the committee are Mohammed Takori, who will serve as vice chairman, Babatunde Alli as secretary, Mrs. Dudu  Manuga, Salvador  Moshood and Alhaji Haruna Pai.

The party also announced the establishment of three subcommittees for the North, South-South and South-East geopolitical zones to support the reconciliation process.

The NDC said the national reconciliation committee would be inaugurated at the party’s national secretariat by 12 noon on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

The move comes amid efforts by the opposition party to resolve disagreements that followed its primaries and consolidate support ahead of the 2027 elections.
