The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed Princess Marian Tolofari as its Director of Diaspora Affairs, with a mandate to mobilise and coordinate Nigerians abroad ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party said Tolofari would lead the organisation and structured engagement of its members and supporters in the diaspora, coordinate overseas chapters and deepen advocacy and policy outreach among Nigerians living abroad.
In a statement announcing the appointment, the NDC said the new director would also be responsible for aligning its overseas membership with the party’s national programme as preparations for the elections gather momentum.
It described the Nigerian diaspora as an important constituency whose professional expertise, resources and civic influence could contribute to political and democratic development at home.
“The NDC regards the diaspora as an essential constituency — professionals, entrepreneurs, students and families whose skills, resources and civic voice must be organised for democratic renewal at home,” the party said.
It added that Tolofari’s appointment was intended to strengthen its diaspora mobilisation and place the assignment under experienced leadership.
Tolofari, who is from Rivers State, is a public administrator, gender advocate and political strategist. She hails from the Tolofari Royal Canoe House in the Niger Delta.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics and a Master’s degree in Gender Analysis.
Her previous public and political engagements include service in the Presidency during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
She also served as National Publicity Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and National Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the United States.
The NDC said her experience in public administration, gender advocacy and political organisation among Nigerians abroad would be brought to bear on her new assignment.
The party congratulated Tolofari on the appointment and urged its members and supporters abroad to work with the Directorate of Diaspora Affairs as it builds its organisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
