President, National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Gloria Laraba Shoda has frowned at the death of Ochanya Ochiga, aged 13, who allegedly died of complications from years of serial sexually abuse by her aunt’s husband, Andrew Ogbuja and his son, Victor Ogbuja.
Speaking on the death of Ochanya, Shoda said: “It is barbaric for a man and his son to indulge on ruining the destiny of a little girl from age 8 till 13. As a mother, my heart is broken and I think they should be jailed for life.
“It’s only insane and demonic men that rapes minors and girls for their evil missions.
“We heard the police released them on bail after the rape and sodom case. Why did they allow them to walk the streets of Benue freely after inflicting health problems on the child? she queried.
“The autopsy report revealed that the girl died from severe health complications, including the dreaded Vesico Vagina Fistula (VVF).
Mrs. Shoda further stressed that “We are calling on relevant security agencies to help us fight for justice, that man and his son must go to jail for killing an innocent girl,” she added.
President NCWS Benue State, Mrs Grace Okochi explained that “Ochanya’s case was revealed to the public and police, by Margaret Soo, owner of an orphanage because the girl was dying in silence, after witnessing the gruesome treatment meted on the deceased and took custody of her.

“Her uncle abuses her vagina, while the son sodomized her anus. They battered her blander” she lamented.
Mrs. Okochi further explained that the wife of the Governor of Benue State, Mrs. Eunice Ortom through her NGO supported and prayed for her survival.
“Ortom’s wife sent Margaret Soo and Ochanya to Jos Teaching Hospital for further medical treatment, where she had corrective surgery, but she later died at General Hospital, Otokpo.
“Benue State NCWS in tears on our uniform visited the police commissioner, police family unit, FIDA and petitioned Inspector General of Police to seek justice for our dead daughter.
“We are planning on a peaceful solidarity movement to the Government house and we already at the magistrate court today 25th October for the hearing of the case,” she added.
Mrs. Okochi further revealed that there is tension in Benue State. Also, that the son has ran away, while the man has been arrested.
