Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Stephen Adegbite, has accused his predecessor, Rev. Yakubu Pam, of emptying the purse of the Commission when he was leaving office as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Commission few weeks ago, as well as leaving huge debts behind.
Rev. Adegbite confirmed to The Sun Newspapers, that aside running the Commission into huge debt running into billions of Naira, he also left with six SUVs belonging to the Commission, and in addition to that, he refused to do proper hand over to the new executives.
Rev Adegbite said: “We are discussing the matter with him, and whatever actions we would take would depend on his response and action to our request. However, I can confirm to you that the former Executive Secretary, Rev. Pam, left with six cars and some billions of Naira belonging to the Commission.
“However, I can assure you that he will return them because they are government property. Government has a way of recovering such items, and his case will not be different.”
Meanwhile, all efforts to reach Rev. Pam for response was unsuccessful, as he neither picked calls nor responded to message sent to hIs phone.
His media aide, Ayuba Pam, in a Whatsapp message to The Sun denied the allegations, insisting that his principal was innocent of the accusations.
The Whatsapp message reads: “To my knowledge, he (Rev. Pam) has returned all official vehicles in his possession. I am not aware if there are other vehicles yet to be returned. I returned mine immediately he called me about the development, and so also other aides of his. So, I do not think he has a craving for such things as it’s being alleged.
“Secondly, on debts, I can’t say, but, if there’s any administration that was so open and transparent at NCPC, you give it to Rev Pam. As a management staff, issues of finances were always discussed with heads of departments and units, and if there’s any financial impropriety that was carried out, then they should be able to pinpoint clearly to him to defend, and not make spurious allegations for the sake of trying to make one.
“Government is a continuum and accountable, so, if it’s established he left a burden of financial dealings to that tune, records are always there to guide whoever that’s interested in finding out the true financial position of NCPC.”
