The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in collaboration with  Stellakee Nigeria Limited has concluded a five-day capacity building training on oil and gas project management, scheduling and control for 30 youths in Bayelsa State.

According to the NCDMB, the training, which took place from February 2 to February 6, 2026, is part of its efforts to build the capacity of young Nigerians in the oil and gas sector, making them self-reliant and self-employed. “This initiative aligns with the board’s mandate to develop local content in the industry.

“The training covered essential topics, such as project estimation, planning and scheduling, as well as advanced scheduling techniques, including the Critical Path Method (CPM) and Programme Evaluation Review Technique (PERT),” it stated. Participants also learned about integrated project controls, earned value management, and performance measurement and tracking.

This programme is one of several initiatives by the NCDMB to empower youths in the Niger Delta region. In 2025, the board trained over 3,000 youths in various skills, including mobile telephone repairs, hardware, software and entrepreneurship. The NCDMB has also partnered with other organisations to provide training in tech skills, such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and fire alarm installation and maintenance .

The capacity building training is expected to equip the youths with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the oil and gas industry, thereby contributing to the country’s economic development.
