The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with GRUFIX Global Services Limited, has completed a five-day training and empowerment programme in Google mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for 50 Nigerian youths in Kaduna State.
The programme, held from August 10 to 14 in Kaduna was aimed at equipping young Nigerians with in-demand digital and geospatial skills to boost employability and deepen local content in the technology and energy sectors.
During the intensive training, beneficiaries were taken through practical modules on Google Mapping, GIS data collection, spatial analysis, remote sensing and digital mapping for project planning and infrastructure development. Resource persons and certified GIS professionals facilitated the sessions with hands-on exercises and real-life case studies.

The implementing partner, GRUFIX Global, commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to leverage the skills acquired to start tech-driven businesses, support government projects and contribute to Nigeria’s digital transformation.
All the 50 beneficiaries from across Kaduna State received certificates of participation and starter toolkits to enable them to apply their new skills immediately.
Stakeholders described the programme as a timely investment in human capital, adding that it would help bridge the skills gap in geospatial technology while creating jobs for the Nigerian youths.
