United Nigeria Airlines and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have condemned the altercation involving two social media personalities Martins Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) and Freedom Atsepoyi (Mr. Jollof) during the boarding of Flight UNO523 at Asaba International Airport on Monday morning.
The incident, which occurred on 17 November 2025, prompted immediate intervention by United Nigeria Airlines crew members, who de-escalated the situation and deboarded both passengers in line with global aviation safety procedures.
They were handed over to airport security for further investigation, while the flight later departed safely.
Director of Consumer Protection and Public Affairs with NCAA, Michael Achimugu, who became aware of the incident while transiting during an international flight, expressed concern over the behaviour of both men.
He noted that there is “zero tolerance for unruly behaviour aboard an aircraft.”
The official confirmed that although the airline is yet to file its mandatory report, the incident would be subjected to full regulatory scrutiny.

He added that the actions of both passengers endangered the safety of all onboard, stressing that it was particularly disappointing given the influence the two individuals wield in shaping public behaviour.
United Nigeria Airlines, in its official statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, reiterated its commitment to strict enforcement of safety standards and passenger conduct rules.
“The safety, comfort, and security of all passengers and crew remain our top priority.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for behaviour that threatens aviation safety,” the airline said.
The NCAA is expected to review the incident once a formal report is received, after which appropriate legal and regulatory actions would follow.
