President-elect of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, on Tuesday assured members that she would work with them and other stakeholders to mend divisions and restore unity in the association as she prepares for her swearing-in at the end of August.
Speaking to State House correspondents after a courtesy call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Badejo-Okusanya said she had already started consulting widely within the profession and promised to address grievances that have caused discord.
“My swearing-in is not until the end of August. In the meantime, I continue to reach out to members, to stakeholders, so that we can work together to improve things, to heal the hurt anyone has, and to just continue to ensure that we do things to make sure that the NBA continues to fulfill its role to society,” she said.
The president-elect reiterated her commitment to reconciliation and institutional stability, assuring lawyers and the public that her administration would prioritise unity and effective governance.

“Everything that needs to be done, I can assure members and the public that I will do. We’ll make sure that we unite ourselves. We’ll make sure that we put our house in order,” she added.
On her meeting with President Tinubu, Badejo-Okusanya said the President congratulated her and that their conversation included the challenges of electronic voting and the broader role of technology in elections. She described the exchange as constructive, noting a shared interest in improving the NBA’s electoral processes.
“He congratulated me on the victory. We talked about the challenges of electronic voting and technology, and we spoke about the ways in which we can continue to improve on our processes. It was very encouraging,” she said.
