Protest sponsors on watchlist, accounts blocked — NIS

FCT protest

The Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) has revealed that those sponsoring the #EndBadGovernance protest have been placed on a watchlist.

The development was announced on Tuesday by the Comptroller-General of NIS, Kemi Nandap, at Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

Nandap stated that the individuals, who are in the diaspora, would be apprehended immediately they set foot on Nigerian soil.

Speaking after a strategic meeting convened by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, she said, “We have diaspora sponsors, they are on our watchlist.

“They are watchlisted, any attempt they make to come into the country, we’ll be notified and they will be picked up and handed to the appropriate authority.”

She also revealed that their accounts have been blocked, with officers deployed to borders both land and airports to ensure effective manning of those entry and exit points in response to the ongoing protest.

Nandap disclosed that the Service has also stepped up surveillance to prevent foreign intervention in the country.
