The Bayelsa State Athletics Association has finalised arrangements to hold a one-day trial for athletes representing the state in various track and field events at the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The open trial is scheduled for Tuesday, 10 December 2024, at the main bowl of the Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Ovom, Yenagoa, from 8am to 6pm.
Athletes will compete in events such as the 100 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres, long jump, and javelin.

A statement by the Secretary of the State Athletics Association, Tariye Jackson Bidei, noted that there would be morning and evening sessions for the preliminary rounds and finals.
The statement invites athletics enthusiasts and sports lovers to come and cheer on the athletes.
Dignitaries expected at the event include the Commissioner for Sports Development, Chief Daniel Igali, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs Grace Alagoa, and the Director of Sports, Bayelsa State Sports Council, Sir Braveman Wodi.
