Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has paid a condolence visit to the family of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, following his death.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who visited the deceased former governor’s family to personally express her condolences, described his death as a significant loss to Kogi State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Nigeria.
Idris served as governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2012 and remained an important figure in the state’s political history.
Speaking during the visit, Akpoti-Uduaghan said the death of the former governor had left a significant void, noting that his years in public office formed an important chapter in the political development of Kogi State.
“The passing of His Excellency, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, is a profound loss to Kogi State, the Peoples Democratic Party and indeed Nigeria.
“At a moment like this, words are often inadequate to express the depth of our grief, but we remain consoled by the memories of his years of public service and his contributions to the political history of our state,” she said.
The senator extended her condolences to Idris’ children, grandchildren, relatives, friends and political associates, urging the family to remain united as they mourn their patriarch.
She also called on the people of Kogi State to use the period of mourning to reflect on the responsibilities that come with public office and the enduring impact of political leadership on society.

According to her, the death of a former governor was not only a moment of personal loss for the family but also an opportunity for the state to remember and reflect on the contributions of those who had served it.
She said, “At a time such as this, we must put aside our differences and stand with the bereaved family. The political journey of every leader will eventually become part of our collective history.
“It is therefore important that we preserve the memories of those who have served and learn from their experiences.”
Akpoti-Uduaghan also urged Kogi people to maintain peace, unity and solidarity with the Idris family during the period of mourning.
She prayed for the peaceful repose of the former governor’s soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
“I pray that Almighty Allah grants the family the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss. May Allah forgive his shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus,” she said.
