The Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), a support group of President-elect Bola Tinubu, has warned against putting selfish people in positions of authority at the National Assembly as of May 29.
The group said the National Assembly leadership will not be business as usual if qualified persons are not in positions of leadership.
In a statement by the National Coordinator of DOJ, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, however, advised that past records of the contestants for the National Assembly should be very properly screened.
“The bitter truth is that all the present contestants for the National Assembly leaders should have their past records looked into and screened.
“Their financial contribution, physical input, religion balancing, tribal balancing, their track records, are they good stand the test of a decent society?
“I am calling on all Tinubu supporters to make sure we bring in reliable and responsible persons to handle the affairs of our dear country.
“If the party leaders have no feelings for Nigerians apart from those they have a personal interest for, by diverting Nigerians interest to their personal interest, majority of Nigerians will suffered for it.
“We call on all Nigerians, spiritual leaders and all progressive-minded Nigerians should rise up to sacrifice everything within our scope to protect the future of our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to bring in, to sustain good governance with God-fearing leadership at the National Assembly.
“As a supporters group, we succeeded in convincing many Nigerians that Asiwaju is the best for the work and Nigerians will hold us responsible if we fail again.
“We also call on those who are in the court to come and work for good governance in Nigeria,” the statement said.
