Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has said that he will not run for president in the 2027 general elections.

El-Rufai stated in an interview with Arise TV on Friday that he has not chosen to run for the country’s highest post.

“I have said this over and over, I’m not a candidate for any office. I would have been in Egypt pursuing my PhD, but because I contributed to putting this government in place, I am still here to correct the decision,” he said.

When asked directly if he would run for president in 2027, El-Rufai replied, “For now, I am not running.”

However, he acknowledged that politics can be unpredictable.
“You never say never in politics,” he said.

He explained that circumstances could change if party leaders ask him to step forward.

“But the decision to run for president has not been made by me,” he added.

Nasir El-Rufai also expressed concern about the state of the country, describing Nigeria as being in a difficult situation.
