The Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe, has expressed strong dissatisfaction over Nasarawa United Football Club’s recent 0-1 home loss to Kwara United, describing the team’s ongoing struggles in the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season as unacceptable.

In a press release signed by Eche Amos, Media Officer of Nasarawa United FC, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, it was reported that Dr. Akabe convened an emergency meeting on Monday with key stakeholders to address the club’s challenges.

Dr. Akabe emphasized the need for immediate and effective measures to restore the club’s competitiveness and ensure better results.

Dr. Akabe voiced concerns over the team’s recent form, calling it “unacceptable” and emphasizing the need for improvement. “This meeting is necessitated by the loss yesterday to Kwara United. His Excellency, the Governor and my principal, is very upset about this and has directed me to convene this meeting to find a way through for our club,” he said.

Highlighting the state’s commitment to the club, Dr. Akabe stated, “The loss and poor run of form by the club is totally unacceptable, and we must take drastic measures to restore our team’s competitiveness. We will work around the clock to ensure that our players and team members receive the best support and resources to excel.”

Stakeholders discussed key areas for improvement, including strategic adjustments, enhancing player motivation and welfare, and revising coaching tactics. Resolutions included an immediate action plan to address these issues, focusing on tactical changes, bolstering player morale, increasing government support, and conducting regular evaluations to track progress.

Dr. Akabe directed all involved to implement the action plan without delay, assuring that the state government would convene a follow-up meeting to assess the club’s development and resolve any outstanding issues.

Sun reports that the meeting, held at the Deputy Governor’s temporary office in Lafia, saw the attendance of the club’s management, led by Chairman Solomon Babanjah; the coaching staff under Kabir Dogo; player representatives including Captain King Osanga (MON); and officials from the Nasarawa State Football Association, headed by Salisu Galadima ‘Basira’. Hon. Jafaru Ango, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, and Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan, Permanent Secretary, were also present.
