Operatives of the Nasarawa State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) arrested Abashe Gizo, a notorious cattle rustler, kidnap suspect, and armed robbery kingpin, at Shinge Market in Lafia on May 17, following an intelligence-led operation.

Gizo, long on the police wanted list for kidnapping and cattle rustling, was apprehended after a manhunt.

DSP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest in a Sunday statement. “The suspect, who has been on the Command’s wanted list for an extended period, was successfully apprehended yesterday,” Nansel said.

Gizo confessed to the crimes during interrogation and led police to his hideout in Ruwan Baka village, Doma Local Government Area, where an AK-49 rifle (breach number 453144) and a magazine were recovered.

The arrest follows the recent apprehension of Fatima Salisu, caught transporting ammunition from Doma to Katsina for criminal syndicates. Commissioner of Police CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safety.

“This arrest is a testament to our resolve to rid the state of criminals,” he stated, urging public vigilance.

Gizo remains in custody and will face court charges upon investigation’s conclusion.
