From Abel Leonard, Lafia
Following the expiration of the three-years tenure for the executives of the Actors Guild of Nigeria in Nasarawa State, the outgoing Chairman of the guild, Dr. Wilson Kingsley, has called on AGN members across the state to ensure peaceful-coexistence as they work towards refilling the vacant positions.
The outgoing AGN Chairman who is seeking re-election for the position, gave the charge in Lafia on Thursday at the hand-over ceremony to a newly appointed Sole Administrator of the guild, Usman Galadima.
According to Dr. Kingsley, it was important for all members of the guild to maintain peace at all times irrespective of their aspirations to fill in the 10 vacant positions of the AGN in the state.
He mentioned a major achievement of his administration between May 29, 2021 to May 29, 2024 to include the rapid growth of the guild’s membership from 39 to 179 across the three senatorial districts of the state.
He said, “The guild recorded numerous achievements under my leadership. Some of which are; the establishment of three satellite chapters in Akwanga, Karu and Keffi Local Government Areas of the state; Finding and grooming new talents in the state; Getting a satified and working bank account for the guild, among others.
“I am re-contesting for the chairmanship position because I am still working towards reshaping the guild to ensure its rapid growth and prosperity.
“If I get re-elected into office, I will ensure the constant registration and revalidation of members so that it won’t be difficult to achieve my aim of taking the state’s AGN to greater heights.
“So, for us to be able to achieve our aims and objectives for the Actors Guild of Nigeria in Nasarawa State, we must ensure to always live in peace and harmony with everyone around us. We should not see ourselves as enemies because of the 10 vacant positions in the guild.
“Campaigning for a position should not make us hate ourselves. Our common goal should be to take the AGN to greater heights so that our leaders at the national level can be proud of us and our achievements.”
While expressing his gratitude to the National President of the AGN, Chief Emeka Rollas, and the members of the National Executives and Board of Trustees of the guild for their consistent support throughout his three-year tenure, Dr. Wilson Kingsley assured of his loyalty to the guild at all times.
