Gunmen have abducted Mrs Patience Nasamu, wife of Pastor Samuel Nasamu of the Word of God Church, Agyaragu, along with a female church member. The incident occurred on Sunday night, 21 September 2025, in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Narrating the ordeal, Pastor Nasamu said his wife, a nursing mother of a three-month-old baby, was taken away alongside the visitor while he was away praying for another church member.

According to him, “I received a distressed call from my wife during which she could only pray before the line went off. The attackers used hammers to break doors and windows before firing sporadically, which forced my wife to open the door. They whisked her and the church member away, leaving our infant behind.”

Residents said they noticed strange faces on motorcycles around 7:00 pm, before hearing gunshots at about 8:15 pm.

The pastor further explained that since the abduction, the kidnappers have not established contact with the family.

Police officers were said to have later visited the scene, urging calm and assuring residents that efforts were ongoing to track down the perpetrators.

A community resident, who pleaded anonymity, decried the worsening insecurity in Agyaragu. He said, “This town is now at the mercy of kidnappers. Farmers and ordinary residents are now frequent victims. We appeal to Governor Abdullahi Sule to urgently intervene.”

The incident comes just days after an aide to Governor Sule was also kidnapped, heightening fears over the rising wave of abductions across Nasarawa State.
