Nasarawa: Governor’s aide faces questions over missing local govt funds

From Abel Leonard, Lafia

In a recent turn of events in Nasarawa State, the political climate has heated up with a statement issued by Alh. Ibrahim Hamza Nasarawa, the PDP State PRO.

Alh. Ibrahim Hamza in a press statement on Tuesday raised critical questions directed at Emmanuel Innocent Akwe, Personal Assistant to Governor AA Sule, regarding the governance and utilisation of state resources.

He said Akwe’s statement is an attempt to deflect attention from an investigative report implicating Governor AA Sule in the alleged mismanagement of state resources amidst efforts to contest his removal from office.

Akwe’s response allegedly targeted PDP governorship candidate Dr. David Ombugadu, deviating from addressing the issues raised in the media report.” He said.

Alh. Hamza who spoke on behalf of concerned citizens, demanded answers from Akwe regarding the absence of a Joint Account Allocation Committee meeting, Governor AA Sule’s prolonged absence from the state, and the alleged invitation of a globally recognised terrorist to Nasarawa State.

Hamza also said Questions also surfaced about the sudden increase in township road contract awards while previous projects initiated by AA Sule reportedly remained incomplete.

He further highlighted the urgency for Akwe and his sponsors to clarify these concerns to allow Nasarawa residents to draw informed conclusions from the investigative report.

Additionally, the statement refuted Akwe’s claims about FCT Minister Nyesom Wike’s alleged refusal to meet Dr. Ombugadu, citing photographic evidence depicting Governor AA Sule’s interactions with Wike under the guise of a railway development project.
