Former Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, Mohammad Sani Haruna, has described the APC gubernatorial primary election in Nasarawa State as a sham, alleging widespread irregularities, intimidation and disenfranchisement of party members.
Addressing journalists at a press conference on Sunday, Haruna said the process fell short of democratic standards and called on the APC national leadership to cancel the exercise and conduct a fresh primary in the state.
He alleged that electoral materials and officials failed to arrive in several wards and polling units, preventing many party members from participating. “It was sheer allocation of figures in 80 per cent of the wards in the state,” he declared.
Haruna urged the APC National Secretariat to intervene, saying the party must live up to its reputation as a truly progressive and democratic institution, adding that his position was backed by videos, photographs and testimonies documenting the alleged irregularities.
Despite his grievances, he appealed to supporters to remain calm and peaceful, insisting that his political ambition remained alive and that consultations were ongoing to determine the next line of action.
