A front-line governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State and former Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abdullahi Adamu, has declared that he will defeat Governor Abdullahi Sule and his preferred candidate, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, if the party conducts a free and credible primary election in the state.
Addressing supporters during a mega rally in Karu Local Government Area on Thursday, Adamu insisted that his ambition rests on internal democracy, urging the APC national leadership to ensure a transparent process that reflects the will of party members.
“I have the capacity, the experience and the support of the people to win this election. All we are asking for is a level playing ground. If the primaries are free and fair, I will defeat both Sule and Wadada,” he said.
The former police boss, who drew a large crowd of supporters to the rally, maintained that his track record in public service, particularly in the security sector, places him in a strong position to address the security challenges confronting the state.
Speaking on behalf of the campaign organisation, Director of Operations and Command, Adams Useni, said the massive turnout in Karu was a clear indication that Adamu enjoys widespread acceptance across Nasarawa State.
“We are here today in Karu and the people have shown overwhelming love and support. This is a reflection of what is happening across the state. The people are ready for the retired IGP,” Useni said.

He added that the campaign remains focused on mobilising grassroots support while advocating for a credible primary process.
“There will be a primary election, and we are confident that Ex-IGP Adamu will emerge victorious because the people have accepted him. What we are asking for is simple: a free, fair and participatory democratic process,” he stated.
Also speaking, Director of Contact and Mobilisation, Hon. Isa Nathaniel, disclosed that more than 3,000 groups had indicated interest in organising rallies in support of the former IGP, describing the development as a sign of growing momentum.
“These groups are here to demonstrate that the retired IGP is the man to beat. He is an unbeatable choice, and as governor, he will work closely with the President to ensure a safer Nasarawa State,” Nathaniel said.
He dismissed concerns over Governor Sule’s endorsement of Senator Wadada, describing it as a personal opinion that does not bind members of the party.
“The governor’s position is his personal view. It does not in any way determine the outcome of the primaries. Party members will come out in large numbers to make their choice, and that choice will be Adamu,” he added.
The rally, which attracted party supporters from across Karu and neighbouring areas, is part of ongoing consultations by the former IGP as he intensifies his bid for the Nasarawa governorship ahead of the 2027 elections.
