Former National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and former Governor of Nasarawa State and elder statesman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has called for unity, mutual respect, and wider consultations as Abdulkarem Kana begins engagements with political stakeholders over his intention to contest the Nasarawa West Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu appreciated the delegation for bringing Kana to him, describing the gesture as part of the tradition of consultation and respect for elders. “I appreciate you for coming. He is like a son to me and has played a significant role in the politics of Nasarawa State,” Adamu said.
Adamu acknowledged Kana’s loyalty, character, and long years of service. “He is qualified, he is loyal, and he has the character of a senator,” he remarked, while stressing that the people of Nasarawa West would ultimately decide their next representative.
He also shared details of his longstanding relationship with Kana’s family. “My relationship with him is longstanding. His father, on his dying bed, asked me to look after his four children should he leave before me, and he is one of them,” he said.
Senator Adamu assured the delegation that he would continue to play his role as a father and a stakeholder in guiding all political actors toward peace and development. “As a father and as a stakeholder, I will give him the fatherly advice and guidance he needs. It is the right thing to do,” he stated.
Kana is expected to continue his consultations across the senatorial district as preparations for the 2027 elections gradually take shape.
Earlier, leader of the delegation, Alhaji Abubakar Akirgya, Galadima Affor visited Senator Adamu at his country home to formally introduce Kana and seek his fatherly guidance as he commences consultations. Speaking on behalf of the group, Abubakar said the visit was to present Kana in response to the demands of their constituents.

“We’re here basically to introduce our son, and he’s here to answer the call, yearning and expression of the people that he should come out and contest for the senate seat of Nasarawa West,” Abubakar said. “We want to present him to our political leader so that he can bless him. He is qualified, he deserves it, and he has been a very good son of the community.”
He praised Kana’s years of service at both state and national levels. “He was a commissioner three times in this state. He served as a member of the National Working Committee and as legal adviser for the whole country. Presently, he is the deputy national secretary and a member of the National Central Working Committee of the APC.” he added.
Abubakar also recalled Kana’s contributions to party administration, noting that local government chairmen had testified to his impact. “It was during his time that he placed all the 13 local government party chairmen in Nasarawa State on salary,” he stated.
Speaking after the delegation’s presentation, Abdulkarem Kana said he had accepted the call from his people out of respect for their elders and community leaders. “I couldn’t have rejected the call from my people, for they are elders and I have to accept it,” he said.
Kana explained that although campaigns for the 2027 elections had not begun, early consultations were essential. “There is a need to consult with stakeholders, which is one of the reasons we are here in the country home of one of Nasarawa’s foremost statesmen and a father, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, to seek his blessings,” he said.
He emphasised that the visit was part of a wider consultative process. “This is a delegation from my people to inform the former lawmaker of their resolve to present their son for the position come 2027,” he added.
Kana highlighted youth empowerment as a central vision of his political journey. “My vision is to create opportunities for the youth. It is something I have been doing, and the senate will give me a bigger platform to do more,” he noted.
