The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has assured party members and the public of a transparent, free, and credible primary election process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists on Monday, the State Chairman of the party, Aliyu Bello, said the APC had already established a comprehensive framework to guide the conduct of the primaries in strict compliance with the Electoral Act and party guidelines.
“The party has put in place a comprehensive and well-coordinated framework to ensure that the primary election process in Nasarawa State is transparent, free, fair, and credible,” Bello stated. “All activities leading to the primaries have been carefully scheduled, with deliberate efforts to carry all stakeholders along.”
He emphasised that the process would guarantee inclusiveness and equal opportunity for all aspirants, noting that internal democracy remains a core principle of the party.
“All aspirants are free and encouraged to participate in the forthcoming primary elections. The party will provide a level playing field for every aspirant to test their popularity and acceptability in a free, fair, and credible contest,” he added.
The party leadership in the state also used the occasion to formally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, citing what it described as bold reforms and transformative leadership.
“We hereby endorse His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for a second term in office come 2027, to enable him consolidate on the gains already recorded,” Bello said.
He commended the national leadership of the APC for strengthening internal democracy and party cohesion, while also passing a vote of confidence on Governor Abdullahi Sule for his leadership in the state.

On the governorship race, Bello acknowledged the emergence of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the preferred aspirant of the governor, describing the development as consistent with political consultations and party tradition.
“This development is a product of wide-ranging consultations and reflects a deliberate effort to promote continuity, stability, and the collective interest of our party and the state,” he said.
While aligning with the governor’s position, Bello maintained that the party would ensure fairness to all contenders.
“No aspirant will be disadvantaged, and the rules of engagement will be strictly adhered to,” he assured.
He called on party members to remain united and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the political process.
“Politics should not be a source of division, but rather a platform for strengthening our shared vision and collective aspirations,” Bello urged. “Together, we can ensure a peaceful, credible, and successful primary process.”
The APC chairman also appreciated the media for its role in promoting democratic governance and pledged continued cooperation with journalists.
