Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay will undergo a minor heart procedure in the coming days after being diagnosed with a mild heart rhythm disorder.

The 29-year-old Scotland international is expected to remain sidelined until after the international break later this month, Napoli confirmed on Tuesday.

The Serie A club said McTominay had recently experienced a heart rhythm problem, describing the condition as mild and benign but requiring medical intervention.

“Due to the onset of a mild benign arrhythmia, Scott McTominay will undergo PFA (pulsed field ablation) surgery in the next few days,” Napoli said in a statement.

“He will be available again after the international break.”

The procedure will rule McTominay out of Napoli’s Champions League clash against Premier League champions Arsenal next week.

He will also miss Scotland’s upcoming Nations League fixtures against Slovenia, Switzerland and North Macedonia.

McTominay joined Napoli after leaving Manchester United and has established himself as an important player for both club and country.
