Backs Abiodun beyond 2027
The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for rewarding Mr. Solanke Francis Taiwo, Nigeria’s Overall Best Primary School Teacher, with a two-bedroom bungalow under the state housing scheme.
In a ceremony held on Friday, the governor also presented the teacher with the keys to a brand-new car donated by the Federal Government.
Solanke, a primary school teacher at Ansa-Ur-Deen Main School I, Kemta Lawa, Abeokuta, had earlier received a cash award of ₦50 million from the Federal Government at the National Teachers’ Summit in Abuja.
In a Saturday statement sent to Daily Sun, National President of NAOSS, Aare Oluwafemi Ajayi aka FM Castro said this generous recognition highlights a government that values excellence, invests in educators’ welfare, and inspires students across Ogun State to excel.
The NAOSS president said the reward given to Solanke deserved applause because it celebrates exceptional dedication, innovation, and impact in teaching, showing that hard work and excellence are recognised and valued in Ogun State’s education sector.
“Together, these actions demonstrate a government that invests in both educators and students, fostering a culture of merit, achievement, and opportunity for all,” the statement reads in part.

NAOSS also appreciated the Commissioner for Education, Abayomi Arigbagbu, and the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, for their continuous efforts to strengthen education and support student welfare.
“Representing Ogun State students nationwide, we proudly stand in solidarity with this administration.
“We are confident in the Governor’s leadership and commit to supporting his political ambitions beyond 2027, with mobilisation already underway among students in various campuses and youth.
“At the same time, NAOSS respectfully appeals for the release of the 2026 bursary, as students have already resumed studies and require urgent financial support to succeed.
“The bursary is crucial for Ogun State students as it provides immediate financial relief, allowing them to focus fully on their studies without the stress of academic-related expenses, while also motivating them to achieve their full potential,” the statement further reads.
Ajayi assured the government that NAOSS would continue to support initiatives that promote education, empower youth, and drive the progress of Ogun State.
