The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) is set to host a groundbreaking training programme in Banjul, The Gambia in a bid  to bolster the skills and opportunities of its members.

Following the success of its recent Annual General Meeting in Lagos, NANTA President Mr. Yinka Folami, announced this strategic initiative, emphasising the association’s dedication to fostering growth and innovation within the travel and tourism sector.

Scheduled for the last week of May, the Banjul training expedition will offer NANTA members from across Nigeria vital insights into travel trade best practices, refresher courses, and untapped opportunities in intra-African tourism. Speaking at the Lagos AGM, Mr. Folami underscored the importance of continuous learning, urging members to embrace new knowledge and explore alternative income streams in an increasingly competitive industry.

“This Banjul program is not just another training session—it’s a deliberate growth strategy designed to deepen our members’ expertise and open doors to countless opportunities,” Mr. Folami stated. He noted that the initiative builds on the foundation laid by former president Mrs. Susan Akporiaye, who spearheaded the first overseas training collaboration with South Africa Tourism, the University of Johannesburg, and the Ghana Tour Operators Association two years ago.

The training program aligns with NANTA’s broader mission to champion intra-African travel and tourism, a sector the association has been actively promoting. Under Mr. Folami’s leadership, NANTA has also successfully rejoined the United Federation of Travel Agencies Associations (UFTAA), reinforcing its commitment to global industry standards.

“Our members have responded enthusiastically, and we are confident that this Banjul expedition will surpass our previous efforts,” Mr. Folami said. “This is a chance to strengthen Nigerian tourism while showcasing our collaborative strength within the African and global travel trade community.”

Mr. Folami encouraged all registered members to secure their participation by contacting the NANTA secretariat within the next two weeks. With a dedicated team and expert faculty in place, the event promises to be a pivotal moment for networking, learning, and professional development.
