The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) will on Tuesday, July 14, inaugurate the new leadership of the student body led by National President, Comrade Babatunde Akinteye.

In a Saturday statement sent to Daily Sun, Akinteye said the swearing-in ceremony of the incoming NANS National Executive Council will hold at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.

“In what stands as a watershed moment for student governance, intellectual advocacy, and institutional reform in Nigeria, all formal arrangements have been meticulously finalized for the grand transition of leadership within the apex student organization,” the statement reads in part.

Akinteye explained that to guarantee a highly coordinated, dignified, and secure proceeding befitting this national milestone, the formal accreditation of student delegates, executive members, and invited dignitaries would commence strictly at 9:00 AM, leading directly into the main event at 10:00 AM prompt.

According to him, this transition represents the birth of a renewed, progressive era focused heavily on reshaping the framework of student representation and establishing a stable, prosperous academic environment across all tertiary institutions in the federation.

The statement reads, “This administrative transition introduces an intentional shift toward constructive diplomacy, intellectual rigor, and proactive engagement with state actors.

“The incoming executive council assumes office with a clear policy roadmap aimed at tackling the fundamental issues plaguing the Nigerian educational sector, including administrative bottlenecks, campus security concerns, and the preservation of student welfare

“Moving away from archaic methods of confrontational activism, the new leadership is firmly committed to driving a narrative of intellectual resourcefulness, where systematic negotiations, policy alternatives, and strategic partnerships with the Federal Government, institutional heads, and educational stakeholders will form the bedrock of student advocacy.

“The incoming administration is fully prepared to lead with integrity, courage, and a structured sense of purpose to ensure that the voice of the Nigerian student remains a powerful catalyst for national development.

“In light of contemporary realities within the higher education landscape, this administration recognizes its critical role in monitoring and optimizing student-centric public policies.”

Akinteye noted that the executive council will actively focus on reinforcing the accessibility of federal initiatives, such as the student loan scheme, ensuring transparent allocation of educational funds, and advocating for widespread infrastructural development across campuses.

He stated that by positioning NANS as a dependable, independent partner in national progress, the leadership intends to foster an environment where no Nigerian student is disenfranchised or limited by socioeconomic barriers.

The NANS President said, “This press statement serves as a collective call to all Student Union Governments (SUGs), zonal leadership structures, and student stakeholders nationwide to unite behind this new administrative mandate, as collective solidarity is vital to implementing these far-reaching institutional reforms.

“As NANS enters this vibrant new dispensation dedicated to protecting the academic and socio-political rights of millions of Nigerian students both at home and in the diaspora, members of the public and student solidarity groups are explicitly reminded that entry into the NAF Conference Centre is strictly by invitation.

“To maintain maximum decorum, absolute state protocol, and security throughout the proceedings, the venue will be subject to strict access controls.

“All official media coverages, press accreditations, and institutional protocol verifications have been completely centralized through the core convention planning committee to facilitate comprehensive streaming and reporting across national television networks, digital platforms, and national dailies.

“The association looks forward to a historic, secure, and collaborative transition that will permanently elevate the standards of youth leadership and student advocacy in Nigeria.”
