The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS Southwest Zone D, has announced plans to hold the NANS Southwest Game Festival, a multi-sport event aimed at talent discovery, student unity and youth development across the region.
In a statement issued by the Office of the Director of Sports, Comr. Oluwasegun Kuruyo, NANS Southwest said the festival is designed to bring Nigerian students in the Southwest together through sports and competition.
The festival, according to the student body, will “provide a vibrant platform for students to showcase their sporting abilities, discover hidden talents, promote healthy living, encourage teamwork, and strengthen the bond among Nigerian students across institutions and states in the Southwest.”
NANS Southwest listed 11 sporting categories for the event, including athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, boxing, and chess.
Others include martial arts, fitness and wellness activities, and traditional and indigenous sports.
The association said the event will also offer opportunities for students to “compete, network, build friendships, and demonstrate the discipline, determination, and sportsmanship that define true champions.”
NANS Southwest said it is seeking support from corporate organizations, government agencies, financial institutions, sports brands, media organizations, philanthropists and individuals to partner with the initiative.
The student body noted that partnership and sponsorship opportunities are available and will offer brand visibility, event branding, media publicity, product activation and strategic engagement.
“Your partnership will contribute directly to youth development, grassroots talent discovery, sports development, student welfare, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles among Nigerian students,” the statement reads in part.
Describing the festival as “more than a sporting event,” NANS said it is “a platform for talent discovery, a celebration of youth, and an investment in the future.”
