NANS Southwest holds ‘most peaceful’ convention, elects new leadership

A new leadership has emerged for the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest, Zone D.

Comrade Josiah Adeyemo, better known as Billion Codes, emerged Coordinator during the Zonal Convention held in Ekiti on Saturday.

Other elected zonal leaders are, Ridwan Ademola Adegoke (Pal. Solution), Deputy Coordinator; Ojetola Babatunde Yussuf (TOYYEM), General Secretary; Comrade Tope Olugbemi (Celebrity Surveyor), Public Relations Officer; Abubakar Musefiu D (GOLDENSON), Assistant Secretary General; Comrade Salako Olawale Ayomipo, DSD; Comrade Alalade Abiola Olutunde (ACHIEVER), Financial Secretary; Comrade Kuruyo Oluwasegun, Sport Director; Comrade Ayanrino Olabode Esmael (Og Boddy), Contact and Mobilisation Secretary; and ⁠Asaolu Femi Samuel (AWO), Treasurer.

In a statement sent to Daily Sun, new zonal PRO, Tope OlugbemI described the convention that produced the new zonal leadership as the “most peaceful” in decades of the association’s history.

He attributed this to the contributions of several stakeholders, including Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to President Bola Tinubu on Student Engagement, Hon. Sunday Asefon; Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Lagos State Governor on Student Union Affairs (Tertiary Education), Hon. Comrade Kappo Samuel Olawale; Leader Agbabiaka; Ldr. Safety, Ldr. Dele Kenko and many others.

According to him, many of these stakeholders, including Comrade Kappo and NANS President, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, were on ground to observe and oversee the process that produced the new zonal leadership.

He further disclosed that the zonal convention held under the leadership of ICPC Chairman, Comrade Idris Odufuwa.

Meanwhile, the Comrade Adeyemo-led zonal leadership promised to be an inclusive and dynamic administration that would redefine the image of student unionism in the Southwest geopolitical zone.
