The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ogun Joint Campus Council (JCC) Axis, has expresed appreciation to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the state government, and all security agencies for the successful rescue of the five students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade, who were abducted last week.

General Secretary, Ogooluwakiitan Ojo made this known in a joint statement issued on Thursday.
According to the statement, the swift and coordinated operation is a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting the lives and welfare of students across the state.
The statement reads, “We commend the professionalism, resilience, and dedication exhibited by the security agencies throughout the rescue mission, which has restored hope and confidence among students and their parents.
“We also wish to state that this positive outcome further validates the proactive steps taken by NANS Ogun JCC in demanding stronger security measures across campuses.
“Following the unfortunate killing of a student of D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic (DSAP), NANS Ogun JCC mobilized students across the state in a peaceful protest against the growing insecurity affecting tertiary institutions.

“That protest was not merely a demonstration of anger but a deliberate call for urgent government intervention and a more robust security architecture to safeguard students.
“Today, we are encouraged to see that the concerns raised by the students’ body have received the attention they deserved.”
The NANS Ogun JCC leadership noted that the rescue of the abducted students reflects the importance of collaboration between government, security agencies, and student leadership in addressing security challenges.
“While we celebrate this success, we respectfully urge the Ogun State Government to sustain and strengthen ongoing security interventions around campuses and adjoining communities to prevent future occurrences.
“The safety of every student must remain a top priority, and we remain committed to working constructively with all stakeholders to achieve a safer learning environment,” the statement further reads.
NANS Ogun JCC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to defending the interests, safety, and welfare of every Nigerian student in the state.
