The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has congratulated the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, on its 50th anniversary.
In a statement signed by National Secretary General, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman, NANS commended five decades of dedicated service, professional journalism and contributions to society.
“As the council celebrates this remarkable golden jubilee, NANS commends its leadership, members and successive generations of journalists for their commitment to informing the public, promoting accountability, defending the principles of responsible journalism and contributing to the development of the Gateway State,” the statement reads in part.
NANS said NUJ Ogun has remained an important voice in public discourse, helping to bridge the gap between government and the people while providing a platform for issues affecting communities, students and other segments of society.
The student body particularly appreciated the role of journalists in amplifying students’ concerns, promoting educational development and drawing attention to issues affecting young people.
NANS encouraged NUJ Ogun under the leadership of Mr. Akinwale Olanrewaju and Comrade Bunmi Adigun, Chairman and General Secretary respectively, to sustain the legacy of excellence, uphold the highest standards of journalistic ethics and continue to serve as a credible voice.
“We equally look forward to stronger collaboration between NUJ and the student community in advancing youth development, educational progress, press freedom and good governance across Ogun State and Nigeria at large,” the statement added.
