…inspects Kaduna-Abuja, Kaduna-Kano roads
…commends Tinubu, Umahi over infrastructural development
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commenced a nationwide tour of federal road projects to assess their condition and impact on students’ access to tertiary institutions, with the first phase conducted in Kaduna and Kano States.
National President of NANS, Comrade Babatunde Akinteye disclosed this in a statement sent to Daily Sun.
The association said the tour is aimed at assessing firsthand the condition and quality of roads that students use daily.
Akinteye said the tour began at the Federal Co-operative College, Kaduna along the Kaduna-Abuja Road, where an ongoing Federal Government construction project passes directly through the institution.
The delegation then moved to Kano, inspecting the Kaduna-Kano Road which runs through Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education.
NANS noted that the improved infrastructure has made commuting easier for students and reduced transportation challenges in and around the school.
Akinteye engaged students and the Students’ Union leadership at Sa’adatu Rimi College on the need for political consciousness and infrastructural development.

“I stressed that, as students, we are directly affected by government policies and must remain actively involved in policy formulation and government projects, especially those that affect us,” the NANS President said.
Akinteye said he sought the opinions of the students on the road construction passing through the institution and the respondents commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, for the project, noting that the improved road has eased their movement and reduced transportation challenges.
The NANS leadership also met with the management of Sa’adatu Rimi College and described the Provost, Dr. Kabiru Ahmed Gwarzo, as commendable and student-friendly.
The association commended the Tinubu administration for “investments in infrastructural development,” stating that road quality and accessibility are critical to students who commute daily to campuses.
“As major users of the nation’s road infrastructure, the leadership of NANS will continue to tour federal road projects across the country, assess their quality, and examine their impact on students’ daily movement,” the statement reads in part.
The NANS president said the tour would continue across other parts of the country, after which “an official report and recommendations will be presented.”
“As the voice of Nigerian students, we will continue to advocate for projects and policies that address students’ welfare,” Akinteye added.
