The Chairman of National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Kebbi State, Comrade Kelani Abdulwaliyu has commended the Governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris, for approving immediate employment of 1800 healthcare practitioners.

AbdulWaliyu disclosed that the newly recruited health workers include doctors, nurses and midwives to boost healthcare delivery in the state.

He stated this while speaking with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on the efforts of the state to stabilize the health sector in the state.

According to him, the governor also granted approval for the employment 1,000 primary healthcare workers to strengthen health services at the primary level of care.

“Because of these reasons, we decided to commend the governor, to encourage him to do more for the people of Kebbi State.”

He added that Kebbi State government has built and will unveil yet another School of Nursing and Midwifery at Ambursa village under Birnin Kebbi Local Government to decongest the existing College of Nursing Sciences, saying that help in filling the gap for manpower in the state.

AbdulWaliyu added that at the association level, they will make sure nurses stay at their work places to justify their salaries increment, stressed that the government had provided an enabling environment for them to thrive
