The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and Novel Communication Limited (NCL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to publish a political compendium documenting the track records, achievements and campaign manifestos of candidates contesting in the 2027 general elections.
The agreement, signed in Abuja on Wednesday by the Managing Director of NAN, Malam Ali Mohammed Ali, and the Chairman of NCL, Dr Abubakar Jimoh, marks the commencement of information gathering, interviews and other activities leading to the publication and launch of the compendium on 1 October 2026.
According to the parties, the publication would feature President Bola Tinubu and other candidates seeking elective positions, including the presidency, governorships, National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly seats.
The compendium, they explained, was designed to serve as a reference document for prospective voters by providing comprehensive information on the campaign manifestos, promises and achievements of candidates ahead of the January and February 2027 elections.
Ali said the publication would help voters make informed decisions and also serve as a valuable resource for academic research. He described the initiative as a laudable and innovative contribution to efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s democratic and political processes.
Ali said the project aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and would stand as an enduring legacy for future generations. The NAN chief commended Jimoh and the management of NCL for their commitment to the project and other initiatives aimed at promoting the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
Earlier, Jimoh said the compendium would offer several benefits, including reducing the defacement of public infrastructure through the indiscriminate posting of campaign materials and helping to curb vote-buying during elections.

He added that the publication would encourage voters to assess candidates based on their track records and policy proposals rather than ethnic, religious or financial considerations.
According to him, both hard and digital versions of the compendium would be made available, with the online edition hosted on the websites of NAN and NCL to ensure easy access for voters.
Jimoh disclosed that the two organisations would seek the endorsement and support of political parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the project.
“One of the major drawbacks in our quest to entrench democracy and good governance is the absence of a well-articulated single publication that serves as a veritable reference document for Nigerian voters to make wise and informed choices during elections,” he said.
He also praised Ali’s leadership in repositioning NAN for improved service delivery and expressed optimism that the compendium would help reduce political thuggery, vote-buying and other electoral malpractices associated with election campaigns.
The compendium is expected to be the first publication of its kind dedicated to providing a consolidated profile of candidates and their electoral promises ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
