Nairametrics, a leading Nigerian business and financial news platform, is set to launch the Nairametrics Wealth Academy in September 2026, with a focus on helping professionals, entrepreneurs and investors make smarter and more informed financial decisions.
The new academy is designed to move beyond conventional financial reporting by providing practical investment education, tools and strategies that participants can apply directly to their personal and business finances.
The Wealth Academy will bring together Nigerians at home and in the diaspora with experienced investment practitioners and thought leaders to teach participants how to assess investment opportunities, build and manage portfolios and create sustainable wealth over the long term.
Nairametrics said the initiative was introduced against the backdrop of growing reliance by investors on headlines, social media recommendations, WhatsApp groups and emotions when making investment decisions.
Rather than encouraging speculation, the academy will focus on structured investment frameworks, business analysis, market cycles and evidence-based decision-making. Participants will also be exposed to Nigerian case studies, prevailing market conditions and opportunities in global financial markets.
Speaking on the initiative, Nairametrics Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Ugo Obi-Chukwu, said the academy was a key component of the company’s broader thought leadership strategy and its mission of creating wealth through information.
“For us at Nairametrics, the Wealth Academy is an important part of our broader Thought Leadership franchise and aligns directly with our mission of creating wealth through information,” Obi-Chukwu said.
He explained that Nairametrics currently pursues this mission through its business and financial news platform, Nairalytics research platform, NMX 100 corporate ranking platform, DealsBook corporate transactions platform, WISE annual investor fair, as well as its thought leadership webinars and seminars.
“The Nairametrics Wealth Academy helps us connect the loop by bringing experts, thought leaders and experienced practitioners together with people seeking practical and instructive knowledge that can help them make better financial, investment and business decisions,” he added.
Obi-Chukwu said the academy was founded on the principle that wealth creation should be driven by credible information, practical tools and experience, rather than speculation and hearsay.
“Our conviction is simple: wealth creation should not be left to chance, guesswork or hearsay. People need access to credible information, practical tools and the experience of those who understand how markets, businesses and investments actually work,” he said.
According to him, the initiative is also aimed at shifting Nairametrics’ role from simply reporting developments in the economy and financial markets to equipping Nigerians with the knowledge needed to manage their capital more intelligently.

He said the academy would provide participants with frameworks they could repeatedly use when assessing investments, instead of relying on isolated tips or short-term market predictions.
Four investment courses
The Wealth Academy will offer four courses covering major areas of investing, with emphasis on practical strategies and real-world applications.
One of the courses, NGX Strategy for Picking High Return Stocks, will teach participants how to identify quality companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange and assess their potential as investments.
The Strategy for Building a Winning Portfolio course will focus on how investors can construct and manage diversified portfolios based on their financial goals, risk appetite and long-term objectives.
Another course, Strategy for Finding Undervalued Stocks, will teach participants how to identify quality companies trading below their intrinsic value, using established value-investing principles.
The fourth programme, Strategy for Building a Winning US Portfolio from Nigeria, will guide Nigerian investors seeking exposure to international markets on how to build and manage globally diversified portfolios using US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds.
Nairametrics said participants would learn how to assess investment opportunities with greater confidence, develop repeatable investment strategies, identify and avoid common investment mistakes, understand market trends and make financial decisions based on data.
The academy will also emphasise actionable knowledge, ensuring that participants can apply what they learn to their own investment decisions rather than relying solely on theoretical concepts.
The programmes will be delivered through live virtual classes, with each course running for six weeks and accommodating between 100 and 150 participants.
The launch comes at a time when more Nigerians are seeking investment opportunities across the local and international markets, while also grappling with the risks associated with misinformation, market volatility and unverified investment advice.
Nairametrics said the academy would therefore serve as a platform for investors to gain access to experienced practitioners and structured knowledge that can help them make more disciplined financial decisions and pursue long-term wealth creation.
