Naira shortage: Niger Govt. to address challenges

Gov Sani Bello

Gov. Abubakar Sani-Bello of Niger has sympathised with residents of the state over the prevailing hardship being experienced in accessing the redesigned naira notes.

This is contained in a statement by Alhaji Ahmed Matane, Secretary to the State Government, in Minna on Thursday.

The governor said he was deeply moved by the attendant consequences of the policy, which had resulted to closure of rural markets and several shops in urban cities.

He said the government was aware of the difficult situation the people found themselves in the last few days and urged them to remain calm.

Sani-Bello assured that the state government was working to mitigate the hardship caused by the shortage of cash in circulation, including the new notes. (NAN)
