Activist, Martins Otse popularly known as VeryDarkMan has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to provide an update in the naira abuse case against the children of billionaire businessman, Chief Rasaq Okoya.
VeryDarkMan made the call in a video shared on Facebook on Tuesday following reports of EFCC’s arrest of socialite, E-Money.
Daily Sun gathered that E-Money was arrested in his Lagos residence on Monday evening.
The arrest, it was learnt, followed allegations of naira abuse.
In January, the EFCC invited Okoya’s sons, Wahab and Raheem to its Lagos office for questioning over alleged naira abuse.
The brothers were heavily criticised after a video surfaced showing them flaunting and spraying bundles of N1,000 notes in a promotional clip for Raheem’s new song titled “Credit Alert”.
Not much has been heard from the EFCC about the case since then.
Reacting, VeryDarkMan said the EFCC’s purported silence over the Okoya’s sons’ case has given impetus to insinuations that the agency is biased.
He alleged that over ’50 men’ of the EFCC stormed E-Money’s home to effect his arrest whi
The activist claimed that the socialite’s arrest was linked to spraying popular musician, Flavour during Obi Cubana’s recent 50th birthday celebration.
Sharing a video of the event, he said, “As you can see in this video, E-Money is spraying Flavour pounds at Obi Cubana’s birthday.
“EFCC arrested him not because he sprayed pounds but because, according to them, he stepped on naira note while spraying pounds.
“They said it’s naira mutilation. So, someone that wants to spray pounds should first check the ground amid the huge crowd to make sure naira notes are not there?”
He added, “Okoya’s son committed naira mutilation which even the (police) Force Spokesman confirmed. They arrested the policeman with them.
“They (EFCC) invited Okoya’s son and nothing was done. That’s how the case died.
“Now they went to E-Money’s house to pick him up because his leg mistakenly touched naira, calling it naira mutilation, but Okoya’s son was not touched.”
EFCC spokesman, Dele Oyewale has not confirmed E-Money’s arrest.
