The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed four local rice milling facilities located in the Autabalefi area, Masaka main market, and Masaka motor park in Nasarawa State.

The agency disclosed this in an X post on Thursday.

During the enforcement operation, officials also seized empty branded rice bags bearing the names of popular brands such as Royal Stallion, Tomato, Big Bull, BUA Rice, and others, suspected to be used for repackaging substandard or unregistered rice.

In a separate action, the agency placed the Masaka Depot of Nigerian Breweries on hold for poor storage practices.

The agency said it observed that beverages were stored outside the building and exposed to direct sunlight, raising serious hygiene and safety concerns.

NAFDAC said it remained committed to safeguarding public health and ensuring that all food and beverages in circulation meet required safety standards.
