The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced on Monday, May 12, the start of aerial display rehearsals in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, and Lagos State, as part of preparations for its 61st anniversary celebration on Friday, May 23.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, in a statement, urged residents of both cities not to panic and to continue their lawful activities. The aerial manoeuvres aim to enhance the grandeur of the celebration’s grand finale while showcasing the NAF’s professionalism and operational capabilities.

The statement read, “The Nigerian Air Force wishes to inform members of the public, particularly residents of Abuja and Lagos, that aerial display rehearsals are ongoing in both cities as part of preparations for activities marking the 61st Anniversary Celebration of the NAF, scheduled for 23 May 2025.

“These aerial manoeuvres are designed to enhance the spectacle of the celebration’s grand finale and to demonstrate the professionalism and operational capabilities of the NAF. Residents are kindly advised not to panic but to go about their normal activities, as the rehearsals are carefully planned and executed with strict adherence to safety standards. The NAF appreciates your understanding and continued support.”

Rehearsals began on Thursday, May 8, and are expected to conclude on Thursday, May 22, according to NAF Logistics Command spokesperson Squadron Leader Abigail Ologun.
