The Federal Government, through the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), has begun distributing 12,160 bags of fertilizer to members of the Edo State chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) to boost food production and strengthen national food security.
NADF Executive Secretary Mohammed Ibrahim officially flagged off the distribution exercise in Benin City, represented by Senior Manager Sam Idiale.
Speaking at the event, Ibrahim explained that the intervention was designed to improve farmers’ productivity by increasing crop yields. He noted that the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s sustained commitment to ensuring food availability, improving the livelihoods of rural farmers, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices nationwide.

The NADF Executive Secretary urged beneficiaries to use the fertilizer strictly for farming purposes, cautioning them against selling the inputs.
“There are more interventions that will come to Edo State. If you sell this fertilizer, it will negatively affect the future programmes that are supposed to come to the state,” he warned.
Edo State AFAN Chairman Joe Usaigbu commended the Federal Government and the NADF for the intervention, describing it as a timely initiative that will significantly improve agricultural productivity and increase yields across the state.
