The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has expressed optimism about deepening trade and business relations between Nigerian and Russian entrepreneurs, particularly in the areas of non-oil exports, manufacturing and industrialisation.
Speaking during an interaction with a Russian business delegation in Lagos, NACCIMA president, National President, Dr. Jani Ibrahim, said the association was looking forward to participating in a business-to-business forum in Russia next month to explore opportunities for collaboration between entrepreneurs from both countries.
He said NACCIMA’s youth entrepreneurs and women’s chamber would form part of the Nigerian delegation, noting that the forum would provide an opportunity for both sides to build partnerships and explore business opportunities in the services sector and other areas.
“We don’t need assistance. We are collaborating and cooperating,” he said, stressing that the engagement was aimed at creating mutually beneficial business relationships.
According to him, one of the key areas of interest is the diversification of Nigeria’s economy through increased export of non-oil products.
He said Nigerian entrepreneurs would explore opportunities to export their products to Russia under preferential tariff arrangements, similar to trade arrangements Nigeria has with other countries.
“This will give opportunity for manufacturing in Nigeria, industrialisation, and also engagement of our youthful population,” he said. The NACCIMA boss added that stronger trade relations with Russia could contribute to efforts to expand Nigeria’s productive capacity and accelerate economic growth.
He further noted that Nigeria’s ambition of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2030 would require deliberate efforts to strengthen trade, manufacturing, investment and private-sector participation.

He said NACCIMA was committed to supporting initiatives that would help Nigerian businesses access international markets and contribute to achieving the country’s economic growth targets.
The Chief Executive and leader of delegation, Moscow Export Center, Vitaly Stepanov, said their visit to the hierarchy of NACCIMA was to raise the awareness of the Moscow based MEC opportunities to partner with Nigerian companies targeting Russian interests, in the areas of financial assistance and investment incentives to boost their trade.
He explained that the Moscow Export Centre job was to nurture new economic ties between Moscow based companies and foreign businesses like that of Nigeria by supporting these companies in various ways in key sectors of the economy.
Vitalys said: “Moscow Export Centre is part of the Moscow City environment. We are part of the authorities. I will probably tell you the reason for our courtesy visit to NACCIMA and the reason for our participation in GITEX Nigeria 2026.”
He stated that MEC It is a huge administrative and financial hub. But also, it is the biggest international trade hub in the Russia Federation. So, we account for each company that has export operations in the Russian Federation.
About 20 per cent of overall exporting companies in Russia are registered here in Moscow. “Speaking of volumes, we are responsible for 25 per cent of the overall Russian non resource energy sector. “And if I were to talk about export of services, we account for more than 40 per cent of Russian exports, including IT services.
We also have a major role a major role in terms of trade and economic relations with Nigeria because 50 per cent of overall Russia Federation energy export comes from Nigeria from Moscow based business and of course, having this strong bases we are very keen on in establishing economic ties with Nigerian business with our roles as partner, as organisation.”
