A new reality show, Next Naija Couple, is set to make its debut on the Nigerian entertainment scene, with the lucky winners going home with a whopping N100 million.

An initiative of Quadrangle Media owned by popular businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu aka Obi Cubana, Next Naija Couple is aimed at celebrating African marriages by fostering genuine love and relationship.

At the premiere of the show hosted by comedian Ayo Makun aka AY at Ebony Life Place, Victoria Island, Lagos last Saturday, Ikechukwu Obi, CEO of Quadrangle Media, highlighted the significance of the reality show.

According to him, the Next Naija Couple aims to groom potential couples within the African cultural values, while promising an immersive experience for the contestants.

On his part, Obi Cubana said the show will help participants find true love and inspire viewers to value committed relationships.

“I believe the show will counteract the negative influence of social media on relationships by showcasing the importance of love, hard work and faith in marriages. There are plans to expand the concept across Africa through Afrikonet in the next five years.” he stated.

Kicking off on October 6, Next Naija Couple will parade 24 contestants – 12 male and 12 female – co-habiting in a luxurious mansion for eight weeks.  The show will stream live everyday, with highlights aired on AIT and Pop Central TV, as well as on a dedicated app developed in partnership with Deep Technologies.

However, the audience will play a crucial role in determining the winning couple through a voting process that will be authentic, fair and error free.

“Aside promoting African cultural values, Next Naija Couple will change perceptions about relationships and marriages in Africa. It will also celebrate the core values that define true African unions,” Ikechukwu Obi said.
