Veteran Nollywood actor, Yemi Solade said he has enjoyed relative peace since he took the bold decision to stop attending church over a decade ago.

Solade made the revelation as a guest on the Honest Bunch podcast.

The actor disclosed that he stopped attending church in 2013 after a pastor admonished him against working on Sundays.

He said he found the pastor’s admonition unsettling since he needed to work to feed his family and make financial contributions to the church.

Solade said, “If you see me in a church, it’s either we are filming…Something happened in my church. I got into the church with my wife that year, 2013.

“I was told in the church to tell producers not to call me for work on Sundays and I sepe’d for (cursed) the pastor.

“It is from that thing that you said I shouldn’t do on Sunday that I put hand in my pocket and I drop here.”

The actor said he found the belief held in some quarters that one’s life would nosedive for staying away from church to be untrue.

He emphasised that his life has become more peaceful since he shunned church attendance.

“A notion that if you don’t attend church, one’s life will nosedive, I have not seen anything change.

“Rather, I have peace. I do well, because everyday of my life when I was going to church, I got messages, all sort of disturbances,” Solade stated.
