As the world prepares to celebrate Father’s Day tomorrow, Ambassador Grace Ama, the National Financial Secretary of the AGN, opened up about the man behind her success: her father, Chief Ogbonnaya Ama.
For the celebrated actress, navigating the turbulent waters of the entertainment industry required more than just talent; it required a moral compass. That compass, she told Saturday Sun, was handed to her by her father through a simple, non-negotiable mantra: “Trust God 100% and love humanity.”
Every child has a moment where parental discipline feels less like love and more like warfare. For Grace, being the Ada (the first daughter) meant holding a position of responsibility that came with strict boundaries.

When asked about the defining moments that shaped her resilience, Ama laughed, recalling the sharp discipline of her youth.
“The flogging and God’s words helped, and they are still helping me navigate life today. At some point growing up, I honestly thought he hated me because of the beatings! But looking back, I see the love in every hard decision, every early morning, and every sacrifice,” she said.
With Father’s Day offering a moment of quiet reflection amidst her busy schedule running the financial affairs of the AGN, Ama shared an emotional message of gratitude to the man she calls her “first love.”
“Dad, Chief Ogbonnaya Ama, thank you for being the steady hand behind my successes and the quiet strength that carried me through my struggles. Your sacrifices often went unseen, but their impact is written into every good thing in my life. I am grateful not only for what you have done for me, but for the person you taught me to become. Thank you, Nnam, love you now and forever,” she added.
