I vividly recall my first meeting with Rt. Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, OON, on Thursday, July 25, 2024. As the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress from Nasarawa State, I was warmly received by him with remarkable humility and respect. What struck me most was his willingness to listen and attend to the needs of everyone, regardless of their religious or ethnic background. For over two hours, Hon. Betara patiently engaged with people from all walks of life, offering words of encouragement and support. His leadership qualities, simplicity, and commitment to public service left a lasting impression on me.
Rt. Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, OON, is a lawmaker and professional Accountant, representing Biu/Bayo/Kwaya-Kusar and Shani federal constituency of Borno state. He has been a member of the Federal House of Representatives since 2007, serving as Chairman of various committees, including NDIC, Banking and Currency, Army, Defence, Appropriation, and FCT.
I was compelled to identify some key leadership qualities that Allah (SWT) has bestowed upon Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, OON.
First, Hon. Betara’s leadership has been marked by his ability to bring people together, transcending religious and ethnic divides. He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to inclusivity and diversity, making him a unifying force in Nigerian politics.

Thirdly, most significantly, Hon. Betara’s pedigree is impressive, with a family legacy of respected community leaders and a strong educational background. He has inherited leadership traits from his forebears, including courage, wisdom, and compassion. His leadership style is a testament to the power of simplicity and integrity in governance.
Because of Hon. Betara’s pedigree and leadership qualities, it is safe to say that the government of Bola Tinubu would do well to make Hon. Betara one of the rallying points of younger generations of northern politicians. His leadership qualities, simplicity, and commitment to public service make him an ideal role model for aspiring leaders.
Not only that, in order to further build on future leadership, the north should utilize Hon. Betara’s pedigree to develop future political leaders. His leadership style and qualities are an inspiration to many, and his commitment to inclusivity and diversity makes him one of the ideals persons to lead the north into a new era of political leadership.
In conclusion, Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara is a leader of integrity and vision, who has been a source of inspiration to his colleagues and constituents. His leadership qualities, simplicity, and commitment to public service make him an ideal role model for younger generations of politicians.
