The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, otherwise known as Yayi, has declared that his administration would prioritise the overall development of Egbaland, particularly Abeokuta, the state capital, if he is elected as governor.

Adeola said that apart from the state capital, his government would also execute infrastructural projects capable of stimulating the socioeconomic development of Ogun Central.

The senator stated this while speaking at the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, at the weekend

Adeola, who was formally presented to the Alake by his kinsmen from the township of his mother in Kemta Odusolu, Abeokuta, informed the gathering that though he is currently representing Ogun West at the National Assembly, he has facilitated scores of infrastructural projects to all the six local governments in Ogun Central.

He added that his visit to the palace led by the Oluwo of Kemta, Chief Abayomi Rotimi, was to officially inform the paramount ruler of Egbaland that he would be flying the governorship flag of the APC in the 2027 polls.

He declared that he is not a stranger in Egbaland as he had identified with his mother for the past two decades.

While thanking Alake for his royal blessing, he disclosed that the monarch played a pivotal role during the build-up to his emergence as the governorship candidate of the APC.

He assured that Egbaland and its people would be offered a pride of place in his administration, emphasising that he would run what he described as inclusive governance.

Senator Adeola, however, disclosed that work had since commenced on more projects he facilitated across Ogun Central.

“My visit here today is to formally inform the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland and my father, that I am the gubernatorial candidate of the APC.

“I am happy to be presented to this palace by my kinsmen from my maternal side in Kemta Odusolu township  in Abeokuta. I am no stranger to Egbaland as I have identified with Egbaland since 20 years ago. Abeokuta is my maternal home and I hold the town very dear to my heart.

“As a senator representing Ogun West, I have facilitated several projects, including roads, solar street lights, water, scholarships and bursaries, schools, library, health facilities and so on, to Ogun Central.

“I want to promise you that I will work for the overall development of Egbaland when I assume office as governor next year. As a bonafide son of the soil, I will not disappoint you as I will run an inclusive governance,” he stated.

Earlier, the APC governorship candidate was hosted to a civic reception by the people of Kemta township at a homecoming event held at popular Adire Market, Itoku, Abeokuta.

Addressing his kinsmen, Senator Adeola promised to work for the socioeconomic development of the township as well as empowerment for women and the youth
