Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the renowned Evangelist Uma Ukpai, who slept in the Lord after a brief illness.
In a heartfelt condolence message signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang described Evangelist Ukpai as a man of uncommon faith whose life and ministry profoundly influenced numerous souls for Christ through his impactful crusades across Nigeria and beyond.
He lauded the late evangelist’s commitment to evangelism, particularly through the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, a non-denominational Gospel ministry that became a symbol of hope, healing, and salvation for many.
Mutfwang noted that the revered Man of God lived a life marked by steadfast devotion to Christ, exceptional wisdom, and compassionate leadership. These virtues, he said, not only shaped his ministry but also inspired generations within and outside Nigeria.

The governor recalled his last encounter with Evangelist Ukpai during the annual conference of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Abuja, where the cleric delivered a soul-searching message that led many to Christ. He remarked that living to such a remarkable age was a testament to divine grace and a life wholly devoted to God’s service.
Mutfwang further praised the late church leader for his strength of character and resilience in nurturing a generation of God-fearing and purpose-driven individuals who continue to advance the Great Commission, promote good governance, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
On behalf of his family, the government, and the good people of Plateau State, Mutfwang extended his deep condolences to the immediate family of the late evangelist, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and the entire body of Christ.
He prayed that God would grant comfort, strength, and peace to all who mourn him God, assuring that the legacy of Evangelist Uma Ukpai will continue to shine brightly as a testimony of a life well-lived in obedience to God.
