Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

With the latest development, the coast is now clear to formally declare for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor, in a signed letter addressed to the Chairman, PDP Ampang West Ward, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, titled “Notice of Resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party”, thanked the PDP for providing a political platform to participate in the democratic process.

Mutfwang acknowledged the support of the party leaders, members and supporters at all levels during his time in the party and thanked them for the trust reposed in him.

The statement said: “Given the realities of the moment, and guided by my commitment for purposeful leadership, clarity of direction and service delivery, I am compelled to seek an alternative political platform.”

Our correspondent further gathered that all his political aides, especially the commissioners, advisers and other appointees wishing to defect with him, have been directed to resign on or before next Wednesday in their respective wards.
