From Jude Owuamanam, Jos

The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has expressed disappointment over the recent assault on Zurak community in Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area of the state.

Daily Sun had reported that no fewer than 40 people were killed in Zurak community by fleeing bandits, following a heavy bombardment by security forces.

Mutfwang, who described the attack as utterly deplorable and completely unacceptable, said it was deeply regrettable, especially with the loss of lives.

A statement signed by the Director, Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, noted that the attack undermined the ongoing efforts to secure the safety of residents, especially farmers, who are returning to their farms.

The governor assured the public that security forces have been mobilised to restore order in the affected area and reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding all communities, including the capital city of Jos. He affirmed his administration’s determination to proactively address security threats, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, and appealed to the people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.

Mutfwang extended his condolences to the bereaved families and called for unity among stakeholders, to foster dialogue and prevent further incidents. He also solicited the collective support of the citizens in fostering peace and prosperity across the state.
