Mutfwang celebrates Gowon’s wife, Victoria, at 80

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has congratulated Mrs Victoria Gowon, wife of former Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon, on her 80th birthday.

In a congratulatory message issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Governor Mutfwang described Mrs Gowon as a compassionate mother and a figure of remarkable grace who worked tirelessly in support of national reconciliation, reconstruction, and peacebuilding during her husband’s administration.

“On this momentous occasion of your 80th birthday, I extend my warmest felicitations to our beloved mother, Her Excellency Victoria Gowon,” Mutfwang stated. We celebrate a life defined by grace, compassion, resilience, and selfless service.

 “As First Lady and a trained nurse, you demonstrated exceptional care for the vulnerable, bringing comfort to those in distress during a critical period in our nation’s history. Your enduring advocacy for peace and bridge-building across ethnic, regional, and religious divides has earned you a permanent place in the hearts of Nigerians,” the Governor said.

 He added that Mrs Gowon’s life demonstrates that nation-building is achieved not only through political authority, but through quiet diplomacy, wisdom, and compassion. He wished her continued health, strength, and joy as she marks this milestone.
