Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has joined Christians in Plateau State, Nigeria, and across the world in celebrating the joyous and sacred season of Christmas, marking the birth of Jesus Christ.

In a goodwill message to mark the 2025 Christmas celebration, issued by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, Mutfwang extended his heartfelt congratulations to the global Christian community, describing Christmas as a season of reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed hope. He expressed profound gratitude to the people of Plateau State for their steadfast support of his administration, particularly their collective commitment to the promotion of peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence.

The governor called on Christians to use the solemnity of the season to offer fervent prayers for enduring peace across the nation and for leaders at all levels of governance. He specifically called for prayers for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking God to grant him divine wisdom, courage, sound health, and guidance to steer the affairs of the nation for the glory of God and the benefit of humanity.

Mutfwang noted that the Christmas season reminds believers of the boundless love of God, as exemplified through the life, teachings, and ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ — values that continue to inspire hope, compassion, forgiveness, and selfless service to humanity.

“This Christmas season fills our hearts with joy, love, and a spirit of togetherness. It reminds us of the true essence of our faith and of the divine light that came into the world through the birth of Jesus Christ, bringing hope, redemption, and reassurance to a weary world.

“It is therefore my earnest prayer that this sacred season rekindles in each of us a renewed commitment to peace, mutual understanding, tolerance, and compassion, as well as a collective resolve to uplift one another, especially the vulnerable and those in need among us,” the governor stated.

He expressed deep sympathy to families who lost loved ones during recent violent attacks in parts of the state and reassured them of his administration’s firm resolve to address the security challenges confronting rural communities.

Acknowledging the economic pressures and security concerns facing many citizens, the governor emphasised that his government remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property while restoring lasting peace across Plateau State.

“Let me assure you that your government is not oblivious of these challenges. In close collaboration with relevant security agencies and other constituted authorities, we are working tirelessly to protect lives and property, restore peace, and create pathways for sustainable development,” he assured.

As part of proactive measures to enhance security during the Yuletide and beyond, Governor Mutfwang disclosed that the state government has commissioned 1,450 trained and patriotic personnel of Operation Rainbow, carefully selected from all the 17 local government areas, cutting across faiths and ethnic backgrounds. The operatives are tasked with providing early warning signals to security agencies to enable swift response to emerging threats.

He further revealed that the state government has concluded arrangements with the Nigerian Air Force for aerial surveillance using helicopters throughout the Christmas period, particularly to ensure prompt response to distress calls in rural and hard-to-reach communities.
